are lucky enough to have wonderful places for walks and, since it is often cold, wet and windy, are very grateful to a kind friend, Wendy, who makes fleece-lined wax jackets for the old ladies.

</center>The grounds of the derelict mental home (some would say this was an entirely suitable place to run and hunt Basenjis !) are vast and open to local dog-walkers. The developers will move in one day, but for the moment, we all take advantage of the open spaces and relatively dry underfoot conditions.

Its very exciting ! Here we all are, loaded in the car two by two. Shani tends to eat right through leather leads so anyone riding her only gets a collar on. We keep on lead until we are out in the open and Mum can keep a better eye on us.

Hope's wax jacket was made especially for her - this is her 'first fitting'

Shani's, by contrast, was made for her father Donner and has had to be cut down to fit her better. She doesn't mind, it keeps out those cold winds -

Safely home but she always takes SO long to open the door... We're working on it though, as you can see from the scuff marks on the metal !
